Truth roasts its own beans in a Victorian warehouse on Buitenkant Street, behind a brass-and-copper fit-out that looks like a Jules Verne engine room. Come for the coffee, stay for the long communal tables and the fast Wi-Fi.

The kitchen does a proper breakfast until 11 and good sandwiches after. Laptops are welcome away from the lunch rush, and the staff will happily tell you which single-origin is on the bar today. Show your Homadic card at the till before you pay.
